Coastal Vacations:
As business began to diminish due to changes in the market they were working in, the core group of leaders at that time began to consider business alternatives to move into with their group.
Naturally one of their concerns was finding a business that met new requirements they now required to be in place before they could suggest moving into the new venture.
These concerns and requirements were:
The Market - had to be wide in scope and large in dollars already being spent.
The Company - providing the product or service had to be established and stable.
The Product - had to have wide scale appeal, high perceived value .. and DELIVER.
The Profit Margin - had to be high enough to warrant working the business.
There needed to be a System or Structure in place to assure ongoing success.
For the times ... this was very far reaching thinking. AND THEY FOUND IT.
What they found to fulfill this:
MARKET - They discovered TRAVEL. A $4.6 Trillion dollar spending spree with built in understanding of what it is, built in desire for what it is and a WIDE APPLICATION to appeal to nearly everyone's desires. Who doesn't know what a vacation is?
Company - Backed by a huge Time Share company called Coast Club Resorts. They handle over 1 million customer service transactions monthly and were the one who had already put the PACKAGE CONCEPT to work as an "Exit Product Sale" when potential customers didn't purchase their Primary Product ... the Time Share.
Coast Club Resorts already had a 20 year profitable history when Coastal Vacations was "born" and today Coastal Vacations has 11 years of business operations behind them. This gives them the "staying power" that serious and committed Entrepreneurs look for, because without that stability, your own living comes under question. We don't have those worries.
Product - Came in the form of a Travel Membership Package. Here they had a built in, ready made, high appeal, high value product in the form of a "bundle" of travel values in one Lifetime Membership.
It delivered $15,000+ in Travel Value for what WAS priced over $2,500 sold by Coast Club Resorts. Under the new Marketing Arm of Coastal Vacations, the decision was made to REDUCE the price to the current level of just $1,295 (not including shipping or Closing Center Fee) to reach the most market possible at the time. Since that time, 2 additional packages became available at higher pricing, with higher value.
Profit Margin ... the key to making MONEY. With this Level I Package, the profit on each sale was a very generous $1,000 per sale! Not much else needs to be said about that. The "math" is pretty easy. Just 1 sale per week and you have a $50,000 yearly income with the Level I Package alone. Level II and Premier Packages both carry a $3,200 per sale profit margin. Level III carries a $6,000 profit margin to Qualified Directors. This kind of profit made this a very attractive and viable business to work with.
The SYSTEM ... they already had in place when they took on the Coastal Vacations Company to market with. That was the then popular Australian Two Up system.
In practice, it's like "mini-franchising" and in the simplest terms works like this ... and what is being described here is what we call the "Traditional System" of Coastal. The Coastal Masters Group and Coastal Closers uses a much more "user friendly" system, but it is important for you to know the other side of it.
HERE IS THE TRADITIONAL SYSTEM
YOU .... make an initial purchase of the Product (the Travel Package) for the purchase price which is normally $1,295 plus the cost of shipping.
This is not "Front Loading" contrary to what some think (because of the price of the package). This represents a simple purchase of either a PERSONAL MEMBERSHIP (which makes it a retail sale) or it is INVENTORY (meaning it will be sold to a customer) just like any other business owner would do to "Stock the shelves" with product.
Next, under the "2 Up System" you would make 2 SALES with your Sponsoring Director's help and they would receive the profits and keep the people from those first two sales. Those two new people remain with your Director and owe the Director their first two sales ... and so on.
Now YOU are Qualified as a Director yourself and able to receive ALL THE PROFIT from all your own future sales and of course now YOU keep the first "2" from your new people..
The appeal to this system is two fold. First, you can see that after those first two sales you gave to your Director, there is NO ONE who takes any "piece" of any sales from then on. You are "released as a Director" and all the profit from all your future sales is yours.
Second, when YOU sell someone that you receive the profit on (your 3rd sale and on) if they intend to work in the business too .... WHO GETS THE FIRST TWO SALES they make? Correct. You do. That's the appeal. A "leverage" of your efforts.
That system stood the test of time for many years and does so to this day.
